Clinical studies have been performed to investigate the use of etanercept for other dermatological conditions. A small open-label study was conducted in patients with early stages of diffuse progressive systemic sclerosis, which found that 25 mg of etanercept subcutane-ously provided improvement in skin symptoms as well as functional status. Also there have been numerous reports on the successful use of etanercept in the treatment of the following diseases: multicentric reticulohi-stiocytosis, erythroderma-associated pruritus, palmo-plantar and pustular psoriasis, pyoderma gangreno-sum, alopecia areata, dermatomyositis, bullous pem-phigoid, cicatricial pemphigoid, cutaneous sarcoidosis, erythema annulare, mixed connective tissue disease, recurrent aphthous stomatitis, refractory hidradenitis suppurativa, Behcet's disease, and Sweet's syndrome.
