Typically, immune receptors that activate immune cells have separate chains for recognition and associated chains that contain cytosolic ITAMs. Examples shown here include the B cell receptor (BCR), the T cell receptor (TCR), and the high-affinity receptor for IgE (FceRI). Inhibitory receptors in the immune system typically have ITIM motifs on the cytosolic portion of the same chain that uses its extracellular domain for ligand recognition. The inhibitory receptor shown, FcyRIIB, is found on B cells and myeloid cells.
