SageWalk is a wilderness school for boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 17 who have histories of substance abuse. With a mission of resolving conflicts and restoring families that have been torn apart by behavioral problems of a troubled child, the program features a multifaceted treatment plan that serves teens and their families both during the students’ time at SageWalk and through their transitions back home.
All SageWalk students receive an ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) assessment, and are then placed in one of three levels of substance abuse treatment. SageWalk’s experienced professional counselors, therapists, and wilderness staff members work to ensure a safe, secure, and sober environment in which students can assess their past unhealthy behaviors and develop the skills and strategies necessary to pursue healthy and successful futures.
SageWalk students participate in a highly structured, intensely supervised program in which an innovative academic curriculum is incorporated into the overall therapeutic experience. With individualized achievement plans, organized small group activities, and significant family involvement, SageWalk offers students and their families the opportunity to re-unite in a spirit of cooperation, understanding, and mutual respect.
